[Interview 1] Kim KyuJong “TURN ME ON’ Solo, Don’t Feel Realistic” (27/09)

“I still don’t feel realistic about standing on the stage alone” Kim KyuJong from group SS501 will be standing alone. Comeback after 1year and 6months. It is good news to fans who yearned for him to stand on stage as a singer.

Kim KyuJong released his first mini album ‘TURN ME ON’ on 27-Sep and will show his matured self on the stage.

“I think I have shown a weak and passive image during that period. With this album, I will break off that kind of image and signifies taking a step forward.”

With the album release coming up, Kim KyuJong captured attention with the extreme image of white hair and thick make-up, and then released various images from androgynous image to masculine image, raising curiosity from people.

“Title song ‘YESTERDAY’ is a sad song. Not being able to see the girlfriend whom I have broken up with even when I miss her. But because there was a saying that when 2 people fall in love, they will turn to look like each other, so I had make-up as a female. Because I miss the girlfriend. Is this my experience of breaking up? Hard to say.” (laugh)

“I have a lot of worries when I did the make-up as a female. I also worried about fans’ responses. However when I tried the make-up, I thought ‘It’s so difficult being a female’. Why is the fake eye lashes so heavy?”

Under the burden of standing on his own, even with the continuous saying of ‘nervous’, we can feel the humor and worries, even excitement in his warm way of speaking, Kim KyuJong seems like he has been thinking a lot.

“It is extremely saddening in our early days of group activity debut. We had the mind naturally that ‘We must get to be number 1’. At that time, I had a lot of confidence because I’m doing it with the members. We were clear about our rivals then, and we think that we were losing right away if we cannot get number 1. We have outgrown such kind of pressures now. Now our thinking is ‘Let’s enjoy while doing it’. Number 1? Of course we want it. But it’s fine even if we don’t.” (laugh)

He said he learnt a lot during the 1 year 6 months period. During the hiatus period as a singer, he performed in musical ‘Goong’ and received a lot of help from people, learned the warmth (in people).

“This song is not a song where you will go ‘This song is really great’ when listening to it once. I listened to the song and practiced the choreograph, I didn’t get tired of it even after listening to it continuously. I hope it can ring in the ears of many people. Choreograph is using the suspenders to dance. It will be interesting.”

“I intend to enjoy the activities and not being chased by it. I will be sad if I don’t get first, but won’t be greedy about it. Next time after time passes, I will be satisfied just to have the thought of ‘ah, that song was really good’.”

Kim KyuJong kept saying ‘I want to enjoy’. We heard it like ‘I want to stay true’ from that. From the top of their career, to undergoing many things such as group disbandment, it is as if he shook off the burdens during that period of time.

“When we were making ‘NO MORE YES’, I sat beside the composer and produced the song through the night with him. I want to include my open mind in it. I also participated a lot in the lyrics and made it together with him.”

“I have desire in composing. I know I am still not good enough to make a song fit to put into an album. I want to study more and enjoy producing it. And even show off to my friends. It is important to be enjoying it.”

Kim KyuJong, the last of SS501 members to make his solo debut. “Even though the members gave me lots of support, I am always very nervous before going up on stage.” Seems like Kim KyuJong’s happy anxiousness can warm up even the surroundings.

“Shin ChaeKyung? Feels stress because she is too lively. My ideal girl is Miss Oh SeJung. Now I get many advices through e-mails from her. She also said she will buy me dinner, how can I eat when I’m so nervous?” Kim KyuJong, who confirms his ideal girl through a variety program back in 2008, shows his unchanged love confidently.

Frank without any reserve, Kim KyuJong. His very first attempt in musical ‘Goong’, he stood on the stage majestically as Lee Shin, capturing the hearts of the audience.

“I am very close to (Kwak) SeonYoung noona and dongsaeng (Choi) YeSeul who both acts as ChaeKyung. It is fun because I’m doing something and talking in a way that the usual Kim KyuJong won’t do. Like raising voice at noona and kissing a high school student” (laugh)

Having activities as a member of SS501 and meeting thousands of fans on the stage, he now breathes with the audience on musical stage.

“When I stood on the stage for the very first time, I couldn’t see any audience. When we have concert as a singer, there are restrictions on impromptu performances, and dances are being choreographed, a lot of times showing the audience what we have which is difference from a musical performance. You can adjust according to the responses of audience.”

Kim KyuJong kept saying ‘enjoyable’ in regards to acting which he just started, and his eyes twinkled. Even so, he initially declined to act in musical.

“It seems very difficult. That’s why I am very concerned of it. I realized that I cannot let this chance pass by. I asked (Jung) YunHo hyung, who acted as Prince, hyung said ‘You are Lee Shin from now’, and encouraged me. This is the style of hyung. A hyung whom I am thankful to, who gave me lots of good advices from before I debut.”

“There are a lot of sadness since we had our SS501 debut stage. Because my part was little, I would think ‘Is it because I am of no help to the group?’. YunHo hyung looked at my face and said ‘Look ahead because there are more coming, don’t be discouraged’. That gave me lots of encouragements as I want find out how.”

Kim KyuJong continued to praise Dong Bang Shin Gi’s Uknow YunHo. Getting the same role as him, their sentiments seem like extraordinary too. “Japanese fans gave me good appraisals too because it is a role which Dong Bang Shin Gi’s Uknow YunHo acted before. I am his junior so of course I am very grateful, and felt happy.”

Director Song ByungJun who directed musical ‘Goong’ said previously “Idol stars these days are like Crown Prince to the public”. Kim KyuJong agreed saying “Because K-pop is popular. When I see the performances of other idols, I would also think that ‘that’s great, cool’.”

Among the idols these days who won the praises of being called prince, he who is also one of the icon of prince among them, has also quite some burden on him. “I am nervous at the thought that I mustn’t let them feel disappointed. It is especially so to the people who are close to me.”

Making his first challenge in acting, Kim KyuJong received a lot of help from the musical team and conveys his gratefulness.

“Actually, before I started the musical, it wasn’t fun when I took acting lessons. I don’t even have the mind to do it. However I learnt a lot through this opportunity. I felt the interest after doing it. I realized that it is impossible if you do it unwillingly because someone made you do it, it is good to do it enjoyably.”

The result of having sold-out their performances in Japan shows their extraordinary team work too. “Our performance team went for a MT (membership training) in ChungPyeong. Initially I thought I couldn’t really fit into the team. Because there are veteran actors around, I thought they would have hated me, but that was not the case. They really gave me a lot of good advices. It is really heart-warming here.”

As the interest in acting grew, the desire grew too. Kim KyuJong wishes to perform in a small theatre in order to be closer with the audience and even expressed his desire to win an award. “I hope that musical ‘Goong’ can get good results in the upcoming Musical Awards. As the musical continues, it seems like it is getting sturdier.”

In addition, besides the musical, Kim KyuJong has been casted in TV Choseon ‘Saving Madame Go BongShil’ as the role of a student doing part-time jobs, dreaming to become a musical actor.

Being determined, he will transform from ‘musical idol’ into ‘acting idol’ smoothly. But his main occupation remains as a singer. Coming out from the hiatus of 1year and 6months, he will release his mini album ‘TURN ME ON’ on 27-Sep and start his solo activities.

“I will continue to have album in Korea, filming drama, and various activities in end of the year. Also I am thinking of musical ‘Goong’ encore performance in Japan, Japan fan meeting, and Asia Tour coming up.”

Widening his fields in various directions, Kim KyuJong’s path is not easy. Finding clothes that suit himself and attempts to transform, this is the reason why we look forward to Kim KyuJong.

[Interview] Kim KyuJong “I’m afraid to make mistake, didn’t even buy a car”

Talking to ‘Young man who leads a upright life’ Kim KyuJong, what we felt is his brightness, healthiness and deepness in thoughts. Even when talking excitedly on incidents with his fans, he rounded up saying “So I have to work even harder and become a greater person.” It is not a pretentious talk, because his body is already holding to his honest heart.

Kim KyuJong, who doesn’t have a car on his own said “I didn’t buy a car because I am uneasy about it. If I have one, I think I will unknowingly drink and drive and get into trouble. I thought that I shouldn’t buy a car ever since I was twenty years old.” He added and laughed “Even though I feel sorry for my future girlfriend, but I can’t say (if I’d buy a car) after marriage, but now I have no intention of buying a car.”

“I always take the subway when I go and meet my friends. If I am really busy, then I will take a taxi. Subway is fast and good.” He said praising the subway. We told him “You used to always pull down your hat and put your head down when you go. What did I say?” Kim KyuJong laughed and said “At that time I thought that was what I must do, but now I go at ease. It’s good if someone recognizes me. I will give autograph if being asked. But a while back, I was being photographed by someone and I heard that I looked shabby in it.” And he laughed again.

Kim KyuJong’s reason for wanting to get married early is “Because I hate temptation”. He explained “Living in the society, I see the many temptations in my friends and hyungs. I really hate those temptations. Even though it becomes an excuse while working, if I have a special someone, I think I will not have such suggestions anymore.”

He added “I want to quickly get married and enjoy the marriage and have babies. I want my father to have an enjoyable time with my kid before he turns too old. If I have kid early, won’t my kid have the chance to have a cup of alcohol with my father when he gets old enough? I think it will be a great gift for my father too.”

With his busy schedule and new challenges coming up, he might be very anxious but he said “As compared to the worries of friends my age, I think I am enjoying it.” He continued “I used to be envious of the friends who solely went to school, but now when we meet, they are all sighing. While preparing for the album, I had some worries and thought ‘I should ask my friends’, but everyone is seriously worried about their own future. They were having a very hard time. As compared to them, I think my worries are enjoyable worries.”

As the last runner of SS501 solo debut, the aim for Kim KyuJong’s album is also as per that nature. “I felt the stress as members who released their albums before me were doing better and better. It will be great if I do well with my album but my role is to finish everything well under our group image. More than the desire to have a big hit success, I hope to finish with an image ‘Kim KyuJong seems like a good person’.”

Composer Han SangWon who produced SS501’s hit song ‘U R Man’, once again produced ‘YESTERDAY’ for Kim KyuJong, “It may sound tacky at first but please listen to it just 3 times. And you will find that it is really good.” He laughed and said.

'바른생활청년'. 김규종과 대화를 나누며 느낀건 밝고 건강하고 생각이 깊다는거다. 팬들과 관련된 에피소드를 신나게 쏟아내다가도 마무리는 "그래서 제가 더 열심히 해서 멋진 사람이 돼야해요"였다. 가식적인 말이 아니라 몸에 이미 벤 그의 솔직한 마음이었다.

개인 소유의 차가 없는 김규종은 "괜히 불안해서 차를 안샀다. 가지고 다니다보면 나도 모르게 음주운전을 할 수도 있고 실수할까봐. 스무살때부터 차는 안 사야겠다고 생각했다"고 말했다. 이어 "앞으로 만나게 될 여자친구에게는 미안하지만 결혼 후에는 모를까 지금은 차를 살 생각이 없다"며 웃었다.

그는 "친구들 만나러 갈 때도 지하철을 자주 탄다. 정말 바쁘면 택시를 타고. 지하철이 빠르고 좋다"고 지하철 예찬을 늘어놓기도 했다. "예전엔 늘 모자를 푹 눌러쓰고 고개 숙이고 다녔다. 내가 뭐라고?"라며 웃던 김규종은 "그때는 당연히 그래야하는 줄 알았는데 지금은 편하게 다닌다. 누가 알아봐주면 좋더라. 사인도 해달라면 해준다. 근데 얼마전에 누군가한테 사진이 찍혔는데 궁상 맞아보인다는 말을 듣기도 했다"고 또 웃어보였다.

김규종이 빨리 결혼을 하고 싶은 이유도 "유혹이 싫어서"다. "사회 생활을 하거나 친구, 형들을 만나다 보면 유혹이 많다. 그런 유혹을 정말 싫어한다. 일하면서 핑계 댈 수 있긴하지만 내 사람이 생기면 그런 제의는 없을 것 같다"고 설명했다.

이어 "빨리 결혼해서 여유롭게 신혼도 즐기고 아이도 낳고 싶다. 아버지가 내 아이에게 너무 어려운 나이가 되기 전에 함께 즐거운 시간 보내고 싶다. 빨리 낳으면 아이가 커서 우리 아버지랑 같이 술이라도 한잔 할 수 있지 않을까. 아버지에게도 큰 선물이 될 것 같다"고 덧붙였다.

바쁜 스케줄과 새로운 도전들 앞에 불안한 마음일 법도 한데 "또래 친구들 고민에 비하면 난 즐거운 것 같다"고 말한다. "예전엔 학교만 다니는 친구들이 부러웠는데 지금은 만나면 다 한숨이다. 음반 준비하면서 고민하다 '친구들한테 물어봐야겠다' 했는데 다들 심각하게 자신의 미래를 고민하고 있더라. 너무 힘들어한다. 그에 비하면 내 고민은 즐거운 고민인 것 같다"고 말했다.

SS501 솔로데뷔 마지막 주자로 나선 김규종의 이번 앨범 목표도 그 성격대로다. "앞서 앨범을 낸 멤버들이 갈수록 잘 돼 부담감이 있다. 내 음반이 잘 되면 좋겠지만 내 역할은 우리 팀 이미지에 누가 되지 않게 잘 매듭짓는 것 같다. 대박 욕심보다는 '김규종이란 사람 괜찮은 것 같다'는 이미지로 마무리했으면 좋겠다"는 것.

SS501 히트곡 'U R MAN' 작곡가 한상원과 다시 손을 잡고 'Yesterday'를 발표한 김규종은 "처음엔 좀 촌스럽게 들릴 수 있는데 딱 세번만 참고 들어주세요. 그러면 정말 좋거든요"라며 웃었다.

'Youth with proper life-morals' Kim Kyu Jong. As I shared the conversation with Kim Kyu Jong, what I really felt was, he is very jovial, healthy and a deep thinker. As he poured some interesting episodes he's had with his fans excitedly, he finally ended off with a sentence, "that is why I have to become a more awesome person by working harder and harder". Not the usual pretensious words you would hear, because all that's seen on him from head to toe is but an honest heart, upright mindset.

A car would be what is called a personal posession. Kim Kyu Jong who doesn't have a car explained his reasons why, "I think I'd worry too unnecessarily if I bought a car, so I didn't buy. If I buy and own one, I might probably end up drink driving without my conscious knowledge...and probably make mistakes... Since 20 years old I already have the thinking of not buying any cars", "Though I will feel sorry to my future girlfriend and maybe might change my mind after I get married, for now that is, I do not have intention to buy any car", as Kyu Jong laughed and talked about it.

"Even when I go to meet my friends, I use the Mass Rapid Transit often, while if I'm really busy then I'll take the taxi. The Mass Rapid Transit is fast and comfortable", as he couldn't stop raving about his liking for the Mass Rapid Transit trains. "In the past, I used to always put on a hat with my head lowered and being in all low profile to everywhere I went... Just what am I that I need to behave like that..!", and he laughed. To which he continued, "at that time I felt it was a must for me to do so and that I didn't have a choice, but now I just do so freely as I wish. If anyone sees me that's good also. If they ask for my autograph, I'll give it to them too. Albeit not long ago someone took a picture of me in public and I even heard people saying that I seemed to look like I was in a sorry plight in that picture", as he laughed to what he said again.

Even Kyu Jong's reason of wanting to get married quickly explained so, "because I hate temptations". "As I be in the society circle, or when I meet up with friends or my hyungs, there are alot of temptations. and to those temptations, I really hate it. Although it's possible for me to have such chances as I'm working, if someday my other-half appears, then I would no longer have those kind of possible opportunities coming to me", as he explained.

"I hope to marry quickly, enjoy my newly-wed life enjoyingly and freely and also to have a child. Before my father becomes too old for my child, I hope we can spend lovely times together as a family. If I have my child quickly, then after my child grows bigger, we could also have a drink or two together with my father too. He will also be a huge present to my father", as he added.

Despite him having a busy schedule and possibly more tedious challenges ahead of him, he discussed about this issue to himself and realized,"Compared to my peers' troubles, I think mine is an enjoying one". Why? "Last time I used to be very envious of my friends who could go to schools, but when we meet up now, they all sigh. As I was preparing my album, I worried about them and thought to myself that I must go and ask about my friends one day, and after I did, I saw that they were worrying alot about their uncertain futures. It's very hard on them. If compared to that, I think my worries and perplexes is an enjoying and pleasant one".

Even as he is the final relayer in SS501 to hold a solo debut and release a solo album last, his goals set for this album is just like his personality too."Members who released theirs before me progressed better and better as time went by, and burden came to me... Of course it'd be great if my album will turn out great, but because my role in the team is that of a balancer, it's not so good if any one over-covers any one else. Rather than me turning out as a huge hit, I rather people just have the thought that Kim Kyu Jong is really a not-bad person, and end it (solo debuts) off that way will suffice".

SS501's hit song 'U R MAN' producer Han Sang-won collaborated with Kyu Jong this time round for title track 'YESTERDAY, "If you listen to it the first time, you'd find it a little conventional. But if you listen to it for exactly 3 times, you'll come to really like it", as he haha-ed to what he said.

Last of SS501 to make a solo debut, Kim KyuJong’s teaser photo had various ‘extraordinary’ points. Heavy make-ups, pearl necklace, female clothing with white hairstyle... immediately after it was being released, there was a heated attention among music fans as well as in various online communities. There are different types of reactions, from curiosity regarding his new attempt, to negative responses.

Kim KyuJong said honestly, “Even though it would be great to hear many nice words about it but getting away from that, I thought that I should do something that I have never done before. And it attracted many people’s attention on it.” He added “Because I won’t be showing that in my performance, so I just wanted to be showing this image.”

He said he is thankful even for those negative responses. He said, “Even then, I think they will say ‘What’s this?’ when they see the photo. Besides cursing over the photo, I am thankful simply that they found and saw the photo. Because it would seem like the traits in my performance, so it is good since it will create attention for it.”

Kim KyuJong’s dressing as woman hides 2 meanings. First is, the wholly white make-up signifies that even though there are diverse colors on the inside, he will break off from all of them and will show his own set of color in his performance.

Kim KyuJong explained, “The 2nd meaning is that while putting on make-up and filming, I thought that the title song is just too sad. It is not that I like a person similar to me. You will become similar with any person you like. Breaking up with the girlfriend, you will think that you can find the image of your girlfriend in your own face. So I put the make-up just like how the girlfriend would. If you look at the album jacket photo, you can also see photos of removing the make-up.”

Kim KyuJong said after explaining the hidden meaning, “I thought that it is really difficult being a female.” He continued “It is difficult to put on fake eyelashes. ‘How can you go out wearing this? It is tough to look beautiful’, these thoughts came to me. For guys, we just wear whatever will do. Females create beauty from small little things, which is tough. It’s just so difficult be it by just not moving, or putting on the fake eye lashes.”

He added “Frankly speaking, I was embarrassed initially but finds it fresh and original while taking the photos. I felt ‘There’s also such a side of me’, ‘When should I try this’. But I wasn’t pretty. I took the photo hoping that I will come out like a pretty lady but I came out just like a transvestite.” And laughed. He continued “Well that’s too bad. I was thinking if I should have put on a wig, but I don’t think it will work.”

Throughout the interview, we can feel Kim KyuJong enjoying the preparations for his solo album and various new challenges he has. “I have not gone into active promotion activities yet so I am not sure, but it was fun but tiring to be making it alone. I have tried various things and also talked a lot about my personal stuffs, it is making me excited. In the past, members share their opinions and fine-tuned it, but now there was too much because there is no one who gives control over it, however the song came out which I am personally satisfied with.”

Meanwhile, Kim KyuJong will start his active promotion activities in music shows broadcasts starting from Mnet ‘M Countdown’ on 29-Sep. Title song ‘YESTERDAY’ comprises of unique raging deep sensitivity in its second half of the song, attracting anticipation by showing the colors of Kim KyuJong.

SS501 member Kim Kyu Jong is the last of his group to debut with a solo album. While the others were busy getting their respective albums out, Kyu Jong spent his time acting and singing in musicals. All that changed on September 28th, however, when he unleashed his first mini-album, “Turn Me On“.

The star sat down for an interview with Newsen, and shared his thoughts on his solo debut, his group, and his hopes for a huge collaborative stage at the end of the year.

“I didn’t really think about releasing my own album. I thought that if anything, Heo Young Saeng hyung would be the first to release one,” he began. He laughed as he continued, “I didn’t know that the others would come out with theirs so quickly!”

Kyu Jong mused, “Its intimidating because the other members’ albums are doing so well. I want to do well too, but I don’t wish for anything big. I just want people to think I released something decent.”

The star then moved on to express his hopes for SS501. “I’m always going to be waiting for the day that all of us would be able to make another SS501 album. This isn’t the end of us, rather it’s just the beginning.” “We all want to produce another album together, but it’s just too hard given the situation. I think right now is a good time for all of us to focus on doing our own thing.”

Kyu Jong then confessed, “To be honest, when people thought ‘SS501′, they simply thought, ‘Kim Hyun Joong‘. This is something that really upset not only the rest of the members, but Hyun Joong hyung as well. I think if we each take the time right now to improve ourselves, then later we can come back together to be better than we were before. No one will be able to say anything then.”

Kim Kyu Jong also spoke out against the rumors that said the members weren’t as close anymore.

“We’re always the same. It was Hyung Jun birthday not that long ago, and people kept asking me if I was forcing myself to wish him a happy birthday. They think we aren’t close at all, but that’s not the case. I think the closer you are to someone, the less you need to go out of your way to pretend.”

He looked excited as he revealed that there was always something he’s wanted to try. “It might be impossible because we’re all so busy. It’s the first time all of us released an individual album in a single year, so when there’s a large event at the end of the year, I want to combine all the songs we’ve performed thus far together into one long medley. And I want for us to stand on stage together to sing our individual parts.”

Kim Kyu Jong will be promoting his title track “Yesterday” from his debut album, “Turn Me On”.

Kim Kyu Jong said, “When Hyung Jun came to my recording room for a visit, I had let him listen to my song. Also, when I met up with Hyun Joong-hyung outside somewhere, I had let him listen to my song too”, “Even Young Saeng-hyung who’s in the same agency as I am made a rap featuring in one of my song ‘MY LOVE’”, as he spread a wide smile across his face while speaking of that.
“Jungmin is in Taiwan, so I couldn’t let him hear my song then, but no matter when, he’s always been showing support to me”, “All of us have always been saying this, ‘though it’s alot tougher doing activities on your own than you can think, don’t be beaten by it; brace yourself and let’s do it awesomely’, and this has given me alot of strength and encouragement”, as Kyu Jong added.

“All these while, it seemed like I’ve only been showing a weak and pessimistic side of mine. However through this time’s album, I will emerge from that kind of old profile of mine and be anew. This album has such a meaning”.

“When we decided to do female dressing, in actuality I had worried alot. About how fans would react to that. However, as I was doing the make-up in midst, I thought that it must have been a really tough and difficult thing on women… Why are the eyelashes this heavy?”

“At that time (when we debuted in 2005), the way of functioning in showbiz between your rivals and you was very stark. If you don’t get No.1, you lose – there was such thinking. But now, I’ve thrown aside that kind of enclosement thoughts. What I feel now, is a ‘Do it enjoyingly’ mind and heart. No.1? Of course will hope for it. But even if it won’t happen it will suffice too (laughs)”.

“This time’s song doesn’t seem like the kind of song where you will think ‘This song rocks, it’s so lovely’ upon hearing it only once. I had been listening to this song continuously since I had to dance the MV for it, but I didn’t get bored over it. “Not to chase after anything/anyone, but will just carry out my activities happily and enjoyingly. Even if I don’t get No.1, I won’t get sad over it and thus affect my desire. “Our musical play team had went for a Membership Training trip to Chungpyeong… At first I thought that I definitely won’t mix too well with my team members… There were even veteran actors, and they may jolly well dislike me too… but it didn’t turn out that way in the end. Kim Kyu Jong has debuted as a solo. While his SS501 members were carrying out their solo activities, Kim Kyu Jong was instead collating his experiences through the broadway stage, and thus, has became the final one in SS501 to hold a solo debut.
He said, “it wasn’t intended like that initially”, and was referring to it not being his original intention to become the final one to hold a solo debut. “I did not have that thought at all, but somehow I still became the final relayer. To be honest I had thought Youngsaeng-hyung would be the fastest to release an album, so I really didn’t expect all the others to release theirs that fast at that speed”…, as he laughed and talked about it.
“The members who released their albums before me began to do really well as they progressed, and burden came to me too. Of course if my album would turn out great will be best, but because my role in the team is to balance the team well with everyone equally-weighted, it will just be enough if people will think that ‘Kim Kyu Jong is actually quite a not-bad person(singer)’, rather than me becoming a shocking hit with my solo debut…”, disclosing his modest yet determined aim.
“As I await for our SS501 album where we shall re-unite anytime, I also want to end this solo debut off well”, as Kim Kyu Jong also disclosed that SS501 is not an end for him, but instead is a name with new challenges ahead to attain for. “All of us have the thought to do a SS501 album together. For now, to speak honestly, it is still difficult. All of us have the heart and intention to do so, but right now, it’s the period to focus more on our individual work”, as he explained.

“To be honest, there were alot of talks about SS501. Alot of talks like how there was only Kim Hyun Joong enough in SS501, etc.. Hyunjoong-hyung, as well as our other members were very hurt”…, “As we do our individual activities, we also build up experiences, and then one day when we re-unite, those experiences we gained will then become a strong strength. In that case then, we won’t be over-covering anyone at all, and every one will be equal. With such thoughts in mind, we will hence turn to put in more effort to work harder”, as he divulged his inner feelings.

“Though we’re all very busy, there is some things I really want to do. The first will be for each of us to release each of our album every year. And then on year-end concerts or big festivals, each of us will sing our own parts, plus also a few verses of our past solo songs combined together; I think it would be so fun”, as Kim Kyu Jong seemed to really enjoy planning such plans in his mind.

He continued, “Actually we have always been the same (friendship). Not long ago, I went to Hyung Jun’s birthday party, but people were all saying that it was done deliberately to not call me over. I think it’s because we’re too close that misunderstandings will surface. Even in Youngsaeng-hyung’s case, we actually meet up very often, but many people still ask us ‘are you two not close?’… This is not something to be vague about, if you are close to someone, must you actually really act close by greeting one another and such?”, as he displayed his neverchanging friendship with his members.

In particular, Heo Young Saeng even made a rendering support by doing a rap featuring in one of Kyu Jong’s song ‘MY LOVE’. Kyu Jong explained, “Because I wanted it to become memories so I specially requested for him to do it, but he fretted and didn’t know how to do rap because he thought he couldn’t. But in the end it turned out really well. Besides the instrument sound, the rap part had turned out with all but Youngsaeng-hyung’s own voice”, as he felt so satisfied by saying that.

Kim Kyu Jong who has shown his deep affections for his members and his group has returned with his 1st solo album ‘TURN ME ON’. In which his title song ‘YESTERDAY’ was produced by the hit producer Han Sang-won who had also produced SS501′s hit song ‘U R MAN’. As the title song progresses toward the end, deeper feelings were expressed. This title song ‘YESTERDAY’ may be similar to ‘U R MAN’, but it is also very obvious that it has a different trait to it, and will be sure to appeal towards the music fans in another different manner.

日本でも絶大な人気を誇る韓国の人気スター、キム・ヒョンジュンがトップバリュHEATFACT（ヒートファクト）のCMに起用され、すでに好評オンエア中ですが、9月20日、共演の中村アンと共に六本木ヒルズアリーナで「トップバリュHEATFACT2011発表会」に出席しました。

パブリックスペースでの発表会とあって、多くのファンが見守る中、レッドカーペットから登場したヒョンジュン。司会者の質問に応える形で、HEATFACTの着心地、冬のファッションについて語りました。

Q. 今もHEATFACTを身につけていらっしゃいますね。

ヒョンジュン「きょうは涼しいのでピッタリです！　HEATFACTは本当に温かくて、CM撮影で1枚着ただけで汗がでるほどでした」

Q. 女性の好きな冬のファッションは？

ヒョンジュン「寒のは少し我慢してでもオシャレをしている人はステキだと思います」

中村「HEATFACTは薄くて軽いので、下に１枚着れば冬のオシャレが楽しめます」

Q. CM撮影のエピソードを教えてください。

ヒョンジュン「きのう新CMの撮影をして、最後に眠るシーンがあったのですが、本当に寝てしまって（苦笑）、きっと中村さんは困ってしまったんじゃないでしょうか（笑）」

中村「スースーと寝息が聞こえてきたので、本当に寝ちゃったんだ……と思いました。きっと疲れているんだと思って、起こさずそのままにしておきました！」

Q. 放送中のCMでは、ヒョンジュンさんが中村さんをバックハグするシーンがありました。

ヒョンジュン「中村さんのようなステキな方を後ろから抱きしめてあげられて、嬉しかったです！」

会場のファンから「エーーーーっ！！！」とブーイング。

中村「ファンのみなさん、ごめんなさい……」

【上の写真の羊について】　司会者より、この羊（もちろん本物ではありません！）が「実際に現在放送中のCM撮影時に使用され、ヒョンジュンさんがスリスリしたものです。本日、久々の再会を果たしました」と紹介がありました。韓国で行われたCM撮影では、飛行機に乗って海を渡った羊だそうです。まるで本当に生きているように精巧に作られていました。

羊に「お久しぶりです」と日本語で挨拶するキム・ヒョンジュンワールドが大人気！
